An Ago-Iwoye Magistrate Court has granted bail to three individuals accused of assaulting police officers during an incident in Ogun State. The suspects, identified as Alaba Mulika, 51, Alawode Iyanu, 21, and Temitope Saliu, 29, were charged following a police investigation initiated by Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni.

The incident, which occurred on September 29, 2026, involved a confrontation between the suspects and a police team led by ASP Akeredolu Emmanuel. According to a statement from Police Spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the police intercepted an unregistered Toyota Camry on Fibigbade Street in Ago-Iwoye. This vehicle was allegedly obstructed by a Toyota Highlander with registration number JJJ 215 JV at Abobi Street.

The situation escalated when the driver of the impounded vehicle contacted Alaba Mulika, who is reported to be an Indian herb seller from Awa-Ijebu. Mulika allegedly arrived at the scene and confronted the officers, resulting in a physical altercation. During this confrontation, Inspector Abolarinwa Wasiu and Corporal Olubamiro Adeniyi were reportedly assaulted. Video footage of the incident later circulated on social media, which contributed to the evidence reviewed during the investigation.

The three defendants are facing multiple charges, including conspiracy, obstruction of police officers, serious assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. The court granted each suspect bail set at N500,000, requiring them to provide two sureties. These sureties must demonstrate proof of tax payment and ownership of property within the court's jurisdiction, subject to verification by the court registrar.

The case has been adjourned until October 12, 2026, for further proceedings. DSP Babaseyi cautioned the public against engaging in physical confrontations with police officers performing their lawful duties, advising that complaints should be directed through appropriate legal channels.
