A fire incident occurred in the Mushin area of Lagos State, affecting a room on the top floor of a one-storey building. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) reported that the fire broke out on Oke Arin Street, destroying household items but fortunately causing no casualties.

According to Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, the agency's Alpha Eagle Team received the distress alert at 1:26 PM and promptly responded to the scene. Upon arrival, the team found the room engulfed in flames. The Eagle Response Team, along with the LASEMA Response Unit Fire Team and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, worked collaboratively to contain and extinguish the fire.

Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed that the inferno was successfully controlled and completely extinguished, with efforts made to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures. However, the cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time.

In a separate incident, LASEMA also addressed a vehicle breakdown at the 7UP Bus Stop, which was causing traffic disruptions. The agency's Tiger Team responded to a Hyundai minibus that suffered a battery failure near the Federal Road Safety Corps office. The team used a heavy-duty tow truck to recover the vehicle and relocate it to the State House for safekeeping, thereby restoring the flow of traffic in the area.

Oke-Osanyintolu emphasized that these interventions illustrate the Lagos State Government's commitment to emergency preparedness and public safety. He urged residents to adhere to safety guidelines and to report emergencies promptly through the toll-free lines 767 and 112.

This incident follows a previous report from Punch Newspapers about a fire in the Ketu-Ikosi area, where two firefighters were hospitalized while combating a blaze that affected a three-storey residential building. LASEMA had indicated that that fire was caused by an electrical surge from a prepaid meter. The agency remains vigilant and ready to respond to emergencies across the state.
