The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has issued an urgent advisory to motorists regarding a significant hazard on the Bauchi-Maiduguri highway. A large section of the road has been cut off near the Darazo exit in Bauchi State, prompting concerns over safety for travelers in the region.

In a public alert shared on its official Facebook page on September 27, 2026, SEMA warned that the disruption could pose serious risks, particularly with adverse weather conditions expected in the coming days. The agency specifically advised those traveling along the Bauchi-Yobe-Maiduguri route, as well as motorists heading from Kano to Gombe, to exercise extreme caution and implement all necessary safety measures.

The warning comes in light of forecasts from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), which predict rain and thunderstorms across various parts of Nigeria. According to NiMet's weather bulletin covering September 26 to 28, thunderstorms are expected in locations including Bauchi, Gombe, Abuja, and several other cities. While Maiduguri and Potiskum are forecasted to experience partly cloudy conditions, the potential for flash floods remains a concern in many areas.

As the weather deteriorates, SEMA emphasized the importance of vigilance among motorists. The agency noted that wet conditions could severely impact visibility, road surfaces, and travel times, making it crucial for drivers to stay alert and prepared for sudden changes in road conditions.
