This announcement follows Trump's criticism of Ukraine's strikes on Russian oil refineries, which he believes are exacerbating global diesel price increases.

Trump's assertion, made on Monday, stated that both nations have committed to refraining from targeting energy-related facilities. He wrote, "Ukraine has agreed not to hit Russian Energy targets. Russia has agreed to do, likewise!" This development comes amid rising oil prices and heightened concerns regarding fuel costs and inflation in the United States, particularly as the November midterm elections approach.

The US president attributed the recent surge in global diesel prices primarily to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, dismissing the notion that tensions involving Iran are the main contributing factor. He stated, "The World’s Diesel price rise is mostly caused by the Russia/Ukraine War, not Iran."

Ukraine's presidency has not commented on Trump's claims, and there has been no immediate response from Moscow. This announcement follows Trump's recent visit to Ireland, where he urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to cease attacks on Russian diesel infrastructure, arguing that such actions are leading to shortages.

During his visit, Trump advised Zelensky to focus on other targets rather than diesel fuel, stating, "Let him go after targets, but not diesel fuel, because he’s causing a shortage of diesel."

The conflict has seen Ukraine intensifying its attacks on Russian oil refineries, which are located deep within Russian territory. In response, Moscow has ramped up its long-range strikes, resulting in increased civilian casualties. The situation has escalated, with Kyiv launching record numbers of drones against Russian targets and Moscow responding with an unprecedented level of missile attacks.
