The Osun State Police have initiated an investigation following a shooting incident at a motor park near Energy Filling Station in Ile-Ife, which resulted in the death of a local man identified as Olalekan Oyeyemi, also known as Emir.

Governor Ademola Adeleke confirmed the tragic news through a statement released by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed. In his statement, the governor expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and directed the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, to ensure that those responsible for the shooting are apprehended and brought to justice.

According to the Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, law enforcement officials were quickly dispatched to the scene to restore order and secure the area. Preliminary investigations revealed that Oyeyemi was shot during the incident, prompting the police to delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Ojelabi emphasized that the police are committed to uncovering both the immediate and underlying causes of the incident. "The Command is currently working to unravel the immediate and remote causes of the shooting, identify those responsible, and bring all persons found culpable to justice," he stated.
