Troops from Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully rescued three individuals who had been kidnapped during a terrorist ambush on a commercial vehicle in Zamfara State. The incident occurred along the Anka–Gummi road, a known route for commercial transport.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the rescue operation was initiated after the troops, who were on routine patrol in the Anka Local Government Area, received urgent information about the attack. The soldiers quickly mobilized to the scene and engaged the terrorists, who subsequently fled into nearby areas, leaving their captives behind.

In the aftermath of the encounter, the troops were able to safely recover the three victims and also found a handheld communication radio that had been abandoned by the fleeing attackers. Makama confirmed that the rescued individuals are currently undergoing necessary medical assessments and care before being reunited with their families.

In response to the attack, military forces have ramped up their search and recovery operations in the region. They are actively working to locate the vehicle involved in the incident and to track down the terrorists who escaped. Additionally, security forces have increased patrols along the Anka–Gummi corridor to enhance the safety of motorists, secure this vital transport route, and deter further criminal activities in the area.

The ongoing efforts by the troops reflect a commitment to improving security in Zamfara State, which has been plagued by incidents of kidnapping and terrorism in recent years.
