Police operatives, alongside local vigilantes, successfully rescued a woman who had been abducted by armed men in Sapele, Delta State. The incident occurred on the evening of September 2, 2026, when the victim was ambushed at the entrance of her home on Eko-Amukpe Road.

According to Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, the police received a distress call around 7:45 PM, indicating that the woman had been forcefully taken after the suspects fired shots into the air to intimidate her. Edafe detailed that the assailants quickly took her into a nearby bush, prompting an immediate response from the Sapele Division.

The Divisional Police Officer promptly mobilized patrol and surveillance teams to the scene of the crime. Upon arrival, officers discovered expended AK-47 ammunition shells, indicating the severity of the attack. With the assistance of local vigilantes, police operatives launched an extensive search operation in the surrounding areas throughout the night and into the following morning.

The relentless efforts of the search teams pressured the kidnappers, ultimately leading them to abandon their victim. By the morning of September 3, the woman was located and rescued unharmed. She has since been reunited with her family, providing them with a sense of relief following the traumatic incident.
