Three people have been k!lled, five others injured and the Sarkin Noma, Alhaji Yusuf Chiromawa, abducted by gunmen who attacked Chiromawa town in Garun Malam Local Government Area of Kano State.

The incident occurred at about 11pm on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

The Chairman of Garun Malam Local Government Area, Alhaji Aminu Salisu Kadawa, who confirmed the incident said the gunmen invaded the town and headed straight to the residence of the Sarkin Noma, where they opened fire indiscriminately.

He said three people were k!lled in the attack, while five others sustained various degrees of injuries.

The council chairman said the injured victims were receiving treatment at a hospital, while security personnel had been deployed to track down the attackers and secure the release of the abducted traditional title holder.

Kadawa said he personally led council officials to the hospital, where they stayed through the night to ensure that the injured victims received adequate medical attention.

He added that the Kano State Government would intensify security measures in the area to prevent further attacks.

The chairman appealed to residents to remain calm and prayerful while urging them to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could assist in tracking the attackers and rescuing the abducted Sarkin Noma.
