Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has publicly committed to ensuring that the state delivers its votes to President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 elections. During a meeting with the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, Adeleke emphasized the importance of integrity in politics and urged fellow politicians in Osun to set aside their differences for the greater good.

Adeleke, who referred to Tinubu as his "dear father," expressed his determination to fulfill his promise of delivering 100 percent of Osun's votes. He stated, "I don’t make empty promises. When I said we will deliver Osun State votes to our dear father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I mean it 100 percent."

The governor's pledge is rooted in the values instilled in him by his father, a diplomat and labor union politician. Adeleke highlighted that his family taught him the importance of honoring commitments, a principle he believes should guide political conduct. He remarked, "Politics must be with integrity. We are all from Osun State. Let’s forget our differences and work for the President."

Adeleke's commitment to Tinubu is not merely rhetorical; he recounted his active role in political negotiations that led to the selection of Godswill Akpabio as Senate President and Tajudeen Abbas as Speaker of the House of Representatives. He noted that he had previously assured Tinubu that lawmakers from Osun would support the President’s preferred candidates, despite some initial dissent within his political group.

He successfully persuaded Osun's lawmakers to align with the President's choices, reinforcing his belief that political commitments should be honored. "I don’t play games or make promises I have no intention of fulfilling. That’s not me, because I have a fear of God," he stated.

In his address, Adeleke called on both politicians and residents of Osun to unite and focus on the development of the state. He stressed that political differences should not hinder support for initiatives aimed at benefiting Osun and its citizens. The governor's appeal for unity reflects a broader strategy to strengthen the APC's position in the state as the 2027 elections approach.
