Rasaq Sijuola, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has raised serious concerns regarding the recent destruction of campaign billboards belonging to APC candidates. This incident, which he claims was perpetrated by political miscreants, occurred in Ibadan as the state gears up for the 2027 general elections.

Sijuola, who recently contested in the primary election for the Akinyele State Constituency 2 on the APC platform, reported that the destroyed billboards were not only vandalized but also replaced with those of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM). He described the situation as alarming and unacceptable, emphasizing that political rivalry should never justify such acts of vandalism.

The destruction reportedly took place along the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) road in Akinyele Local Government Area. Sijuola, who also holds the title of Mogaji of Looyin compound in Ibadan, expressed his dismay over the incident in a statement made available to DailyPost.

In light of these developments, Sijuola has called on security agencies to intervene and address the situation promptly. He is currently consulting with his legal team to explore possible legal actions against those responsible for the destruction and replacement of the campaign materials. He urged party leaders, stakeholders, and relevant authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure that anyone found culpable is held accountable under the law.

Moreover, Sijuola appealed to supporters of all political parties to practice tolerance and engage in issue-based politics as the elections draw near. He reiterated his commitment to a peaceful democratic process, asserting that politics should focus on ideas, service, and development rather than the destruction of opponents' campaign materials or intimidation.

As the political landscape in Oyo State continues to evolve in the lead-up to the 2027 elections, Sijuola's call for restraint and respect among political rivals highlights the need for a more civil and constructive political discourse in the state.
