Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire, representing the Ondo Central Senatorial District, has publicly defended the economic policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asserting that these reforms are essential for tackling Nigeria's structural challenges and establishing a foundation for sustainable development.

Speaking during a radio program in Akure, Adegbonmire emphasized the need for patience among Nigerians as the country navigates through economic recovery. He remarked that effective recovery demands a careful sequencing of reforms and the stabilization of economic fundamentals. The senator highlighted several key achievements of the Tinubu administration, including significant investments in infrastructure such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road, rail projects, and airport enhancements, as well as the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

Adegbonmire praised the government's efforts to stabilize the foreign exchange market, noting that increased predictability would enable businesses to plan effectively. He also mentioned that stronger foreign exchange reserves would enhance investor confidence in Nigeria's economy.

In addition to discussing national policies, Adegbonmire reflected on his contributions to his constituency. He reported that his initiatives have focused on education, healthcare, infrastructure, and empowerment, with a particular emphasis on human capital development. He disclosed that he has facilitated educational projects worth over N800 million at Oyemekun Grammar School in Akure, along with various classroom projects in schools across the district, including St Helens Unity Secondary School and St Thomas Primary School.

The senator also detailed his efforts in healthcare, mentioning the renovation and equipping of the Basic Health Centre in Ipogun and the Ifelodun Community Basic Health Centre in Akure. Plans are underway for a new 20-bed maternity centre along the Oda Town axis, with additional rehabilitation projects planned for health centres in Igbara-Oke and Ijare.

Adegbonmire reported that thousands of constituents have benefited from his Mega Empowerment Programme and scholarships, demonstrating his commitment to improving the lives of his constituents.

In his capacity as the chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, Adegbonmire also serves on the Ad-hoc Committee for the Review of the Electoral Act and the Constitutional Review Committee. He addressed recent allegations made by former Senator Patrick Ayo Akinyelure regarding the Alade-Idanre-Owena Road, labeling them as "pure mischief." Adegbonmire clarified that the road project was awarded by the Federal Ministry of Works during Akinyelure's tenure and is not under his jurisdiction.

Challenging Akinyelure to provide evidence of any petition sent to his office, Adegbonmire questioned the timing of the allegations, suggesting they were politically motivated as Akinyelure prepares for the upcoming elections. He urged politicians to ground their claims in verifiable facts rather than political insinuations.

As the 2027 elections approach, Adegbonmire called on voters in Ondo Central to support President Tinubu, himself, and other APC candidates, emphasizing the importance of continuity in consolidating the administration's reforms and projects.
