In a significant operation, troops from Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully rescued a kidnapped woman and thwarted a planned ransom exchange in the Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State. This operation was launched following credible intelligence regarding the ransom payment for the woman, who had been abducted from her farm last month.

According to Lt Col Olaniyi Osoba, the acting spokesperson for the troops, the soldiers acted swiftly to intercept the transaction. Upon sighting the advancing troops, the kidnappers attempted to engage them but were met with superior firepower, which forced them to retreat in disarray, leaving the hostage behind. Osoba stated, "The engagement forced the criminals to retreat in disarray, abandoning the hostage, who was subsequently secured by our troops."

The rescued woman was found unharmed and has since been safely transported back to her family in the Danko-Wasagu area. Following the successful rescue, the troops conducted a thorough search of the terrorists' withdrawal route to ensure the area was secure before returning to base.

In a related operation, troops also carried out routine clearance and dominance patrols across parts of Ngaski Local Government Area. These patrols were completed without incident and are part of ongoing efforts to deny criminal elements the freedom of movement in the region.

Lt Col Osoba emphasized the commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to sustain pressure on terrorists and bandits operating in Kebbi State and beyond. He stated, "We will keep the fire on everywhere the terrorists are. We will dismantle them to secure Kebbi State and Nigeria."

The military spokesman also urged residents to strengthen their cooperation with security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence. He noted that such information is crucial in preventing attacks and disrupting criminal activities in the communities. "We urge members of the public to continue sharing credible information with security agencies. Such intelligence is critical to thwarting the activities of criminal elements and securing our communities," Osoba added.
