Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed confidence that the legacy projects initiated by his administration will significantly enhance the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates' chances in the upcoming general elections. Speaking during the inauguration of the 14.5-kilometre Agba-Ndele Road and a 239.4-metre bridge, Fubara emphasized that these developments would serve as tangible evidence of the APC’s commitment to improving the lives of residents, particularly in rural areas.

The governor made these remarks on Wednesday, highlighting the importance of the newly completed road and bridge in connecting communities in Emohua and Abua/Odual Local Government Areas. He stated that the projects would not only facilitate easier travel for residents but also provide a solid foundation for APC candidates to campaign effectively. "When he comes here to campaign, more especially in Emohua, he will tell them my party did this, and my party did that. So it will be easy for us to win election here," Fubara noted.

Fubara reiterated his administration's focus on delivering projects that genuinely improve the quality of life for citizens, rather than merely fulfilling political obligations. He remarked, "I’m interested in doing something that can add value and change the life of our people." The completion of the Agba-Ndele Road and the bridge is seen as a crucial step in addressing the challenges faced by residents who previously relied on the old Abua Road, which was notorious for its poor condition and long travel times.

The governor also acknowledged that the bridge project was initiated by a previous administration but stressed the importance of completing such initiatives for the benefit of the people. "When you see something that will benefit the people, it doesn’t matter who started it. What is important is you complete it and put it to use," he stated.

Fubara urged local government chairmen, Chidi Lloyd of Emohua and Owolobi Michael Ofori of Abua/Odual, to take responsibility for the maintenance and protection of these projects. He called on community members, including youth groups and traditional rulers, to safeguard the infrastructure from vandalism, ensuring that the benefits reach the intended beneficiaries.

The Commissioner for Works, Prof. Temple Nwofor, provided additional details about the projects, noting that the road features a binder-course width of 10.3 metres and a wearing-course width of 7.3 metres, along with a drainage system measuring 0.6 metres by 0.6 metres. The bridge, measuring 239.4 metres, includes walkways on both sides, enhancing safety for pedestrians.

With these developments, Fubara aims to solidify the APC's position in Rivers State as the general elections approach, showcasing the party's commitment to infrastructural growth and community development.
