Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has reappointed Titilayo Olayinka as the Accountant General of the state, effective immediately. This decision comes just a day after Olayinka's retirement from her previous role as Accountant General and Permanent Secretary in the State Civil Service upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.

The announcement was made by the Governor's Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, who noted that Olayinka's reappointment aligns with a growing trend among various states, including Enugu, Osun, and Akwa Ibom, which have also engaged seasoned retired accountants to lead their financial offices. In contrast, states like Kwara, Ebonyi, Imo, Abia, and Katsina have opted to recruit professionals from outside the civil service for their Accountant General positions.

Olayinka previously served as the Accountant General from November 28, 2019, until her retirement on August 24, 2026. Her extensive experience in accounting, auditing, project management, expenditure control, and procurement is expected to benefit her in her new role. Oyebode emphasized that her appointment reflects Governor Oyebanji's commitment to placing highly competent individuals in strategic positions as he prepares for his second term.

In her new capacity, Olayinka has been tasked with establishing a comprehensive training program aimed at enhancing the professional skills of accountants within the State Civil Service. Her qualifications include being a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, alongside holding a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration.

Olayinka is recognized for her significant contributions to improving Ekiti State's reputation for accountability, transparency, and fiscal management over the past six years. Under her leadership, the state achieved a top ranking in the BudgIT State Fiscal Transparency League for several quarters in 2024 and 2025. Additionally, Ekiti was acknowledged as a leading state in local government budget transparency and received commendations for publishing accessible budget information for all Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas.

Governor Oyebanji congratulated Olayinka on her reappointment and encouraged her to continue serving with dedication and excellence. He also praised her for her past service, which has been instrumental in enhancing the state's financial governance and management practices.
