A 30-year-old man, Olukanyinsola Odebode, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being convicted of rape and sexual assault while on bail. The sentencing took place at Swansea Crown Court, where Odebode was described as a "very predatory" individual who had humiliated and degraded his victims.

The court heard that Odebode's offenses occurred between June 2024 and September 2025. He first sexually assaulted and raped a woman in the Gwent Police area before being arrested and released on bail. After his release, he went on to sexually assault another woman in the Dyfed-Powys Police area.

During the trial, Odebode denied any wrongdoing and subjected his victims to further distress by forcing them to give evidence against him. Prosecutor Mark Wyeth KC emphasized that Odebode posed a significant danger to women, highlighting the life-altering consequences his actions had on the victims. A report from the Probation Service indicated that Odebode showed a lack of insight into his behavior and completely rejected the jury's verdict.

The report concluded that he posed a high risk of serious harm, driven by a sense of entitlement. Additionally, the court was informed that since 2019, seven other women had reported concerns regarding Odebode's sexual behavior, although those cases did not lead to convictions. Allegations against him included rape, indecent exposure, sexual assault, and stalking.

Despite having no prior convictions, Odebode's actions led Judge Huw Rees to classify him as a "sexually precocious person." The judge noted the profound impact of Odebode's behavior on his victims and the concerns raised by a probation officer regarding his lack of accountability for his actions.

As part of the sentencing, Judge Rees deemed an extended sentence necessary due to the risk Odebode posed to the public. He received a 12-year extended sentence, which includes nine years in custody followed by three years on license. Odebode must serve two-thirds of his custodial sentence before he can apply for release, with the Parole Board responsible for determining his safety for reintegration into society.

Furthermore, Odebode will remain on the sex offenders' register for life, ensuring that his actions will be monitored even after his release from prison.
