Davido faces ban in Edo State as political tensions escalate
Isreal DMW defends Davido after a senior aide to Edo's governor issues a ban.

Tensions have escalated in Edo State as Afrobeats star Davido faces a public ban issued by a senior aide to Governor Monday Okpebholo. The controversy erupted following Davido's social media post that seemingly revealed the governor's WAEC results, igniting a fierce response from the governor's camp.
The situation intensified when Apostle Kassy Chukwu, a Special Senior Assistant to Governor Okpebholo, appeared in a viral video threatening Davido. Chukwu declared that the singer was no longer welcome in Edo State, warning that anyone who facilitated a performance by him would face severe repercussions. "David, we don't want to see you for Edo state again. If we catch you, if we see you for airports, go there boys, make that you slap, they remove your teeth for you," Chukwu stated in the video.
This public outburst from Chukwu came in the wake of a campaign visit by Governor Okpebholo to Osun State, where he criticized Osun Governor Adeleke, who is Davido's uncle. The governor mocked Adeleke's reputation for enjoying dance, questioning his seriousness in governance. In response, Davido posted what appeared to be the governor's examination results on his Instagram Story, leading to the backlash.
In an exclusive interview, Davido stood firm, refusing to apologize for his actions. "I'm not going to apologise. I didn't do anything wrong. I was just telling the people of the state the results their governor has," he asserted. He further challenged the governor's authority to criticize another elected official, questioning Okpebholo's understanding of electoral politics. "You don't know what it means to win an election. That's why you could go there and talk," Davido remarked, expressing sympathy for the governor's children regarding their father's conduct.
Isreal DMW, Davido's personal aide, also reacted strongly to the controversy. He took to social media to defend his boss, questioning Chukwu's legitimacy to issue such a ban. Isreal claimed Chukwu was not originally from Edo State, branding him a "complete nuisance in Benin City" and dismissing his statements as those of a "fake pastor."
The unfolding drama highlights the intersection of politics and entertainment in Nigeria, particularly as the gubernatorial elections draw near. With both Davido and Isreal DMW vocal in their defense, the situation is poised to attract further attention as supporters and critics alike weigh in on the matter.
