President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to avoid stigmatizing political opponents and to work towards fostering unity within the state's diverse political landscape. This advice was given during a meeting at the Presidential Villa, where Adeleke visited to express gratitude to the President.

Adeleke, who recently emerged victorious in the off-season governorship election as the Accord Party candidate, secured 511,067 votes, defeating his main rival from the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, who garnered 444,815 votes. Tinubu acknowledged Adeleke's effective political mobilization, which he credited for the governor's success in the elections.

In his address, Tinubu emphasized the importance of reconciliation and social harmony, urging Adeleke to embrace all political factions within the state. He stated, "Seek reconciliation, expand your coast. That is the only way you can give thanks to our people." He further highlighted the significance of divine intervention in political positions, suggesting that Adeleke's current role is a result of both God's will and the people's support.

Governor Adeleke, reflecting on his visit, expressed his appreciation for Tinubu's leadership and commitment to democracy in Nigeria. He referred to the President as the "father of the nation" and commended him for facilitating a free and fair electoral process, which he believes was crucial to his victory. "That is why I’m here to say thank you to ensure that democracy lives in Nigeria," he remarked.

This meeting marks a significant moment for political relations in Osun State, as both leaders aim to promote a collaborative environment that encourages political inclusivity and stability. Tinubu's call for unity is seen as a pivotal step in addressing the political divides that often characterize the state's governance. As Adeleke begins his term, the focus will be on how he implements these ideals and fosters a spirit of cooperation among all political stakeholders in Osun.
