The Ogun State Police Command has successfully apprehended two individuals suspected of being part of an armed robbery syndicate. The arrests occurred during a follow-up investigation related to a stolen vehicle linked to a robbery incident that took place in April 2026.

The suspects, identified as Adeyinka Onakomaya, aged 46, and Olayiwola Kehinde, aged 48, were taken into custody by the Anti-Robbery Team. According to the police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the operation was a result of persistent tactical intelligence and operational follow-ups following the recovery of a stolen red Toyota Matrix.

The police tracked the suspects to their hideouts in the Babaode area along Idiroko Road in Ota, Ogun State, as well as in the Command area of Lagos State. Babaseyi revealed that preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects were involved in the April robbery and had participated in multiple armed robbery operations and violent vehicle thefts across various locations in Ogun State, including Ota, Iju, Babaode, and Atan.

During the operation, law enforcement officials conducted a search that led to the recovery of three locally made pistols and 18 live cartridges. Following their arrest, both suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement in several armed robbery incidents and have begun providing information to assist with ongoing investigations.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, praised the Anti-Robbery Team for their diligence and operational effectiveness. He emphasized that the arrests and the recovery of firearms reflect the police command's commitment to thoroughly investigating criminal activities.

Ojajuni also urged residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to the police through the command’s emergency channels, reinforcing the need for community cooperation in combatting crime in the region. Efforts are currently underway to locate and apprehend other members of the criminal gang who are still at large.
