MultiChoice Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to maintaining operational independence following its integration into the Canal+ global media group. The company's Chief Executive Officer, Kemi Omotosho, emphasized that despite being part of a larger international entity, the core decisions regarding pricing, content strategy, and distribution remain firmly rooted in Nigeria.

Omotosho's statements come in the wake of concerns regarding the implications of MultiChoice Nigeria's membership in Canal+, which is headquartered in France and operates in over 70 countries. She clarified that the leadership and daily operations of MultiChoice Nigeria are focused on the unique needs of the Nigerian market, including its customers, employees, and the local creative industry.

"MultiChoice Nigeria operates as part of that global group, but our business here remains firmly focused on Nigeria, our customers, our people, our partners, and our local creative industry," Omotosho stated. This assertion aims to dispel any misconceptions that may arise from its association with an international organization.

The CEO further explained that all major decisions regarding products such as DStv and GOtv are made by a local executive team, which possesses a profound understanding of Nigeria's economic landscape and consumer preferences. This localized approach is crucial for adapting to market dynamics and ensuring that the company remains relevant to its audience.

Omotosho highlighted the advantages of being part of a global network, noting that it allows MultiChoice Nigeria to leverage ideas, technology, and best practices from other markets. However, she emphasized that the company prioritizes local needs, stating, "The principle is quite simple: we think globally, but we act locally."

The integration with Canal+ is seen as a strategic move that will bolster MultiChoice Nigeria's ability to navigate macroeconomic challenges while continuing to invest in local content, infrastructure, and talent development. Omotosho expressed confidence that this structure would enable the company to harness international expertise while maintaining the flexibility necessary to address the realities of the Nigerian market.

As MultiChoice Nigeria continues to evolve under Canal+, the company remains dedicated to its mission of delivering quality entertainment tailored to the Nigerian audience, ensuring that local voices and stories are prioritized in its programming and operations.
