ADC confident of victory over APC in Jigawa State's 2027 elections
The African Democratic Congress aims to unseat the ruling APC in the upcoming elections.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Jigawa State has declared its intention to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming 2027 general elections. Dr. Sani Muhammad Gumel, the ADC State Chairman, expressed this optimism during a press conference, asserting that the APC's incumbency would not hinder the opposition party's chances of victory.
Gumel highlighted a significant shift in the political landscape of Jigawa, noting that the ADC is gaining traction among diverse voter groups. He emphasized that the party is actively strengthening its grassroots structures and mobilizing political stakeholders to prepare for the upcoming elections. The ADC's strategy includes targeting wins in all three senatorial districts, 11 House of Representatives constituencies, and 31 State House of Assembly seats within the state.
In his remarks, Gumel pointed out that voters would evaluate the APC based on its performance in office, arguing that simply holding power does not guarantee electoral success. He stated, "Incumbency is not a guarantee of victory. What matters is the confidence of the people, the credibility of the candidates and the ability to provide good governance."
The ADC is positioning itself as a credible alternative to the APC, with a political agenda focused on accountability, transparency, economic growth, and improved welfare for citizens. Gumel noted that the party has been attracting politicians from various political backgrounds who are committed to collaborating in the challenge against the APC in the upcoming elections.
"We have real and genuine politicians with grassroots support in our party. With credible candidates in all the positions, we are optimistic that ADC will take over power in Jigawa State come 2027," he added.
Gumel urged party members and supporters to remain united and enhance grassroots mobilization efforts. He reassured that the ADC would continue to engage with political stakeholders and communities across the state as part of their election preparations. Furthermore, he called on women and youths to play an active role in the democratic process to ensure their votes are counted in the 2027 elections.
The ADC chairman indicated that the party would reveal more details about its programs and electoral strategies as the election date approaches, reinforcing their commitment to a competitive electoral process in Jigawa State.
