The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed its congratulations to Governor Ademola Adeleke following his recent victory in the Osun State governorship election. The party emphasized that this win not only reflects Adeleke's leadership but also signifies a crucial moment where voters successfully challenged the extensive political machinery of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement released by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC highlighted that the election results revealed the limitations of the APC's influence, despite the party deploying significant resources, including over 30 governors and numerous federal and state legislators, to secure a win for President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Abdullahi stated, "The people of Osun have shown Nigerians that no political machine is greater than a determined electorate."

The ADC noted that the election was marked by heavy security presence and allegations of violence, intimidation, and arrests aimed at discouraging voters. However, these tactics appeared to have the opposite effect, galvanizing the electorate's resolve to participate in the democratic process. The party asserted that the outcome demonstrated the potential for peaceful governmental change through the ballot box, aided by the cooperation of opposition parties and election observers.

Despite celebrating the victory, the ADC raised concerns regarding the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) handling of the election results. They reported a significant interruption in the uploading of results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV), which allegedly ceased around 8 PM when it became evident that the APC was trailing. This disruption lasted nearly four hours, prompting the ADC to demand a thorough explanation from INEC regarding the incident. Abdullahi insisted, "INEC must tell Nigerians precisely what happened."

The ADC's statement also hinted at suspicions of potential tampering with the results or attempts to declare the election inconclusive. They urged INEC to address these issues to prevent similar occurrences in the upcoming 2027 general elections. The party concluded by reaffirming that the Osun election results have unveiled the limitations of governmental power when faced with a fearless electorate, stating, "No deployment is large enough to defeat a people who have lost their fear."
