The National Rescue Movement (NRM) has underscored the significance of candidate credibility in the recent Osun governorship election, where Governor Ademola Adeleke secured re-election. The NRM stated that the results demonstrate that voters prioritize the individual qualities of candidates over their political party affiliations.

In a statement released following the election, NRM National Chairman Dr. Chinedu Obi congratulated Adeleke on his victory, interpreting it as a clear endorsement from the people of Osun. Obi emphasized that the election outcome serves as a reminder that in a democracy, the electorate's voice is paramount. "The electorate of Osun State have exercised their constitutional right to choose their leader, despite all odds," he remarked.

The NRM's statement highlighted a crucial lesson from the election: voters tend to focus on the candidate's record, character, and ability to connect with the community when making their decision. The party noted that while political parties act as vehicles for candidates, it is ultimately the individual’s competence and ability to inspire confidence that leads to electoral success.

Obi urged Adeleke to view his re-election as a renewed commitment to serving all residents of Osun, including those who did not support him. He called for the governor to prioritize improvements in infrastructure, job creation, education, healthcare, security, and economic opportunities throughout the state.
