The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will face defeat in the upcoming 2027 presidential election against its candidate, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State. This assertion comes on the heels of the recent governorship election in Osun State, which the APM interprets as a clear indication of the waning support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement made in Abuja, APM's National Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Abubakar, expressed confidence that the results from Osun reflect a broader discontent among the electorate towards the Tinubu administration. He noted, "The victory recorded by the people of Osun State over the APC in the governorship election was a foretaste of what awaited the Tinubu administration in 2027."

Abubakar emphasized that the negative reception faced by President Tinubu's allies during their visit to Osun, where they were booed by the crowd, signals a growing dissatisfaction among Nigerians with the current government. He stated that such incidents illustrate the challenges the APC will encounter in garnering genuine public support as the 2027 campaigns approach.

He characterized the Tinubu-led administration as a “failed and oppressive administration,” asserting that Nigerians are unlikely to reward it with re-election. Abubakar also pointed out that there are signs of APC members shifting their allegiance to the APM, mentioning instances where APC candidates and leaders were heard chanting “APM” at various party meetings and rallies.

Highlighting the issues faced by the nation under the APC, Abubakar outlined concerns such as economic hardship, inflation, unemployment, and insecurity. He argued that these factors have contributed to a growing sentiment against the ruling party, stating, "Nigerians could no longer tolerate the arrogance in failure and totalitarian proclivities of the current administration."

He further praised Governor Makinde's track record in Oyo State, asserting that his governance has demonstrated the capability to foster economic growth and development. Abubakar believes that Nigerians are increasingly viewing Makinde as a viable alternative, citing his competence and youthful commitment to revitalizing the nation.

Concluding his remarks, Abubakar urged the APC to heed the warning signs and abandon any plans to manipulate the electoral process in 2027. He cautioned that any attempts to undermine the will of the people would be met with strong resistance from the APM and its supporters. He congratulated the citizens for their role in the Osun election outcome, expressing optimism that the APM would lead efforts to “redeem our nation from the stranglehold of the APC” in the next presidential election.
