Adeleke expresses gratitude to Tinubu after winning Osun governorship election
Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke thanks President Bola Tinubu for his support following his re-election.

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has publicly thanked President Bola Tinubu in light of his recent re-election victory. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially announced Adeleke as the winner of the governorship election held on August 15, 2026.
In a press briefing following the announcement, Adeleke confirmed that President Tinubu had reached out to congratulate him. He characterized his victory as a significant win for both democracy and the people of Osun. "I want to seize this opportunity to thank Mr President. Mr President has called me and he has congratulated me, thank you Mr President for making sure democracy lives on because you fought for it," Adeleke stated.
The election saw Adeleke secure a decisive win over his main rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with a margin exceeding 60,000 votes. This substantial victory underscores Adeleke's continued support among the electorate in Osun.
Interestingly, Pelumi Olajengbesi, a prominent member of the Accord Party, revealed that President Tinubu had contacted Adeleke even before the official results were made public. Olajengbesi praised the President's leadership, noting that the congratulatory call came on Saturday night, prior to the INEC's announcement. "Let me tell you this quickly: even before the result was declared yesterday night, Mr. President called Mr. Governor and congratulated him, and that is good leadership," he said.
Adeleke's re-election is seen as a reaffirmation of the democratic process in Nigeria, with the governor expressing hope that this victory will foster further development in the state. His administration is expected to continue focusing on key issues affecting the residents of Osun, aiming to build on the progress made during his first term.
As the political landscape evolves, Adeleke's relationship with President Tinubu may play a crucial role in shaping the future of governance in Osun State, as both leaders navigate the complexities of their respective political parties and the expectations of their constituents.
