Senator Ajibola Basiru, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has successfully secured his polling unit for the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, during the ongoing Osun State governorship election. At Polling Unit 003, located in Alagba, Osogbo, Oyebamiji garnered 177 votes, significantly outpacing his closest rival, the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, who received 60 votes.

In addition to the major contenders, Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) managed to obtain three votes, while candidates from the Action Alliance (AA), Young Progressives Party (YPP), and Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) each received one vote.

Following his voting, Basiru, alongside his wife Abibat, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for their efficient deployment of personnel and election materials throughout the state. He expressed satisfaction with the high voter turnout, which he viewed as a testament to the populace's commitment to the democratic process.

Basiru also praised the security agencies for ensuring a peaceful and orderly environment at polling stations, stating that the voting experience was calm and without significant issues. He expressed optimism about the overall conduct of the election, asserting that it would be free, fair, and credible.

The APC National Secretary's confidence in his party's prospects reflects a broader sentiment among party members as they anticipate the final results of the governorship election. With the significant lead in his polling unit, Basiru's efforts may signal a strong showing for the APC in the state’s electoral landscape.
