Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Kwara South youths in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), under the aegis of the Kwara South APC Youth Stakeholders Forum, have called on stakeholders to resolve internal differences arising from the party primary through dialogue and mutual understanding in the interest of the party and the state.

In a statement by the chairman and secretary of the forum, Hon. Nurudeen Olayinka Akeem and Prince Richard Rotimi, respectively, the forum canvassed unity among party leaders and members.

The forum, comprising young political stakeholders, grassroots mobilisers, professionals and other APC members, said its emergence was driven by the need to strengthen the relationship between the party, government and residents at the grassroots.

The youths, who pledged to support the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, strengthen unity within the APC and mobilise grassroots support across the seven local government areas in the district, said the forum would serve as a platform for constructive engagement, grassroots advocacy and political mobilisation.

The group said it would promote and communicate the achievements and developmental initiatives of the present administration, particularly those directly impacting residents.

According to the forum, it would establish mechanisms to collate the yearnings, aspirations and concerns of residents across the seven LGAs and communicate them to the government through appropriate channels.

It identified roads, water supply, healthcare, education, agriculture, youth employment, entrepreneurship, security and other community development needs as areas of priority under its grassroots engagement initiative.

The forum stressed that political participation should go beyond election-period mobilisation, saying sustained engagement with communities would enable the government to better understand the challenges confronting residents.

It also declared its readiness to mobilise support for APC candidates in future elections through voter education, political enlightenment, community engagement and peaceful grassroots mobilisation.

The group urged APC leaders and members across Kwara South to close ranks and work collectively to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures.

It also called on youths to participate actively and responsibly in politics and governance, while advocating peaceful campaigns and responsible political communication.

The forum cautioned against violence, hate speech, misinformation and other practices capable of undermining democratic processes.

It said its activities would be guided by the principles of unity, loyalty, service, responsible advocacy, grassroots engagement and democratic participation.

The group expressed its readiness to collaborate with APC leadership, elected representatives, government officials, traditional institutions, community leaders, youth organisations and other stakeholders towards advancing the interests of Kwara South.

The forum called on APC members across the zone to work together towards strengthening the party and securing electoral victories in future elections.
