Elsewhere, a man was reported killed in an attack north of Gaza City, while a woman died after coming under Israeli fire in the northern town of Beit Lahia, according to reports from Al Jazeera correspondents.

Israeli attacks were also reported near groups of civilians in Gaza City's Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood and in western Khan Younis, leaving at least one person dead and several others injured.

Ahmed Wishah was the brother of Mohammed Wishah, who Palestinian civil defence authorities said was killed on April 8 when Israeli shelling struck his vehicle.

The Israeli military claimed the next day, without presenting evidence, that Mohammed Wishah was a "key terrorist in Hamas' rocket and weapons production headquarters".
