Estadio Metropolitano to Host 2027 UEFA Champions League Final
Madrid's Estadio Metropolitano will welcome the Champions League final in 2027, followed by Munich and Barcelona.

The UEFA Champions League final for the 2027 season is set to take place at Atletico Madrid's Estadio Metropolitano on June 5, 2027. This announcement was confirmed by UEFA, marking the second time the venue will host the prestigious match, having previously done so in 2019 when Liverpool triumphed over Tottenham Hotspur.
The Estadio Metropolitano, which has been the home ground for Atletico Madrid since its opening in 2017, will celebrate its 10th anniversary during the final. The stadium, located in the north-east of Madrid, has a seating capacity of approximately 70,000 and is noted for its environmentally friendly features, including LED lighting and solar panels that reduce energy consumption.
Following the 2027 final, the Allianz Arena in Munich will host the Champions League final in 2028, while Barcelona's iconic Camp Nou is set to stage the event in 2029. The Allianz Arena has previously hosted the final in 2012 and 2025, while Camp Nou has seen the finals in 1989 and 1999.
The announcement comes as the 2026/27 Champions League group stage is currently underway, with match week three scheduled for this week. The champions of the tournament will not only receive the coveted trophy but will also secure a place in the 2027 UEFA Super Cup, competing against the winners of the 2026/27 UEFA Europa League.
The Estadio Metropolitano, which replaced the historic Vicente Calderón Stadium, has been recognized for its modern design and commitment to sustainability. It was the first stadium in the world to be fully equipped with LED technology, and it also utilizes recycled rainwater for pitch irrigation. The venue is also among the shortlisted locations to host matches for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
As Madrid prepares for the 2027 final, it will mark the city’s sixth time hosting a European Cup or Champions League final, further solidifying its status as a key location in European football history. With London being the only city to have hosted more finals, Madrid continues to be a significant player on the continental stage.
