Rosemary Aduku, the councillor representing Ogugu Ward III in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, has tragically passed away after enduring days in captivity. The news of her death was confirmed in a heartfelt statement by the Chairman of Olamaboro Local Government Area, Dr. Ameh Williams, on Friday.
In the announcement, Dr. Williams expressed profound sorrow over the loss of Aduku, who was affectionately known as Hon. Rosella among her peers. He described her as a remarkable individual who was dedicated to spreading happiness among those around her. The statement highlighted her commitment to her constituents and her reputation as a humble and reliable leader.
Dr. Williams stated, “It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden demise of our dear sister and colleague Hon. Mrs Rosemary Aduku, the Honorable Councilor representing the good people of Ogugu Ward 3 in the 8 Olamaboro Legislative Council.” He further emphasized the impact she had on her community, noting that her life, though short, was filled with meaningful contributions that would be remembered.
The statement also extended condolences to Aduku's family, colleagues, and the entire Ogugu district, urging them to find strength during this difficult time. “Though your life was short lived, we will definitely take solace in your legacies and testimonies we have received since your demise,” Dr. Williams added.
Aduku's burial is scheduled for 1 PM today at her family compound in Ogugu centre, and the local All Progressives Congress (APC) has been invited to join in the farewell ceremony.
