The Super Eagles of Nigeria commenced their training in Nizhny Novgorod on Saturday night in preparation for their friendly match against Russia. The team, which arrived in Moscow on Friday, is gearing up for what will be only their second encounter at the senior international level against the Russian squad.

Captain Wilfred Ndidi, alongside teammates Bright Osayi-Samuel and Akpe Victory, has withdrawn from the match, prompting head coach Éric Chelle to make immediate adjustments to the squad. In response to these withdrawals, Chelle has called up John Otomewo and Vince Osuji as replacements, ensuring the team remains competitive for the upcoming game.

The Super Eagles are set to hold their final training session on Sunday, ahead of the match scheduled for Tuesday at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium. The kick-off is slated for 6 PM Nigerian time. This friendly is anticipated as an important opportunity for the team to assess their strategies and player performance ahead of future competitions.

As the players prepare, the coaching staff is focusing on building team cohesion and refining tactics to face the Russian side, which has proven to be a challenging opponent in previous encounters. The match will provide a valuable platform for the Super Eagles to showcase their skills and gain crucial experience on an international stage.
