The families of prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who were kidnapped have made an emotional appeal to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, and the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Olugbenga, for the safe return of their children. This plea came during a visit to the Olubadan's residence in Ibadan on Saturday, following the abduction of approximately 19 young adults on Thursday morning.

The victims were reportedly en route to their NYSC camps in Abia and Akwa Ibom States when they were taken. The distressing incident has left families in a state of panic and fear for their children's safety. During their visit, the parents expressed their concerns and urged local leaders to intervene and ensure the safe release of their children.

One of the parents, Alhaja Alimot Akande, voiced the urgency of the situation, revealing that the kidnappers had contacted them using the mobile phones of the abducted corps members. She implored the Olubadan and the police commissioner to act swiftly, stating, "They are threatening that anything untoward will happen to our children if we fail to heed their request. Baba, kindly assist us. Don’t let them kill our children."

The gathering at the Olubadan's residence also included the Aseyin of Iseyinland, Oba Sefiu Adeyeri, who was present to support the families in their time of need. The parents collectively called for immediate action from the authorities to secure the release of their children unharmed.

This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria, particularly concerning the safety of young people and students. The abduction of NYSC members is a stark reminder of the risks faced by individuals traveling for educational and service purposes in various regions of the country. As the families await news, the community remains hopeful for a swift resolution to this harrowing situation.
