In a shocking incident, 19 graduates on their way to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp were abducted by gunmen in Imo State, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of N950 million for their release. The graduates were traveling in two buses when the attack occurred along the Owerri-Onitsha Road in Umunoha on Thursday.

This alarming event highlights the ongoing security challenges faced by travelers in Nigeria, particularly in regions plagued by banditry and kidnapping. Eyewitness accounts indicate that the gunmen ambushed the buses, taking the graduates hostage and leaving the community in distress.

In a separate tragic incident, at least 20 people lost their lives in a motor accident in the Hawan Kibo community of Plateau State on Friday. The accident, which occurred around 5pm, took place at the notorious Hawan Kibo bend, causing panic among residents as news of the fatalities spread.

In Osogbo, Osun State, two individuals were confirmed dead following violent clashes between rival cult groups at a lounge in Owoeba. The attacks, which took place at approximately 5pm, involved unidentified assailants and have raised concerns about the increasing violence associated with cult activities in the region.

Meanwhile, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has publicly challenged former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi to account for the development projects he facilitated during his extensive political career. Wike made these remarks in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, questioning Amaechi's legacy in the state.
