Danielle Adewusi from Lagos State has emerged victorious in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2026 pageant, beating 19 other contestants during a grand finale held at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos. The event took place on Sunday and featured weeks of rigorous competition that included camp activities, advocacy projects, and talent showcases.

Adewusi captured the judges' attention with her remarkable display of confidence, intelligence, and elegance, ultimately securing her win after a challenging question-and-answer segment. The competition highlighted not only beauty but also the commitment of the contestants to social impact, a significant aspect of the pageant.

The Top 10 finalists included notable contestants such as Anita Osikhena from Edo, Myya Jones from Cross River, and Oluwafunmibi Ajaja from Ekiti, among others. The final placements were as follows:

• Winner: Danielle Adewusi (Lagos)
• 1st Runner-Up: Anita Osikhena (Edo)
• 2nd Runner-Up: Myya Jones (Cross River)
• 3rd Runner-Up: Oluwafunmibi Ajaja (Ekiti)
• 4th Runner-Up: Melissa Toghanro (Delta)

In a noteworthy fast-track voting process, Myya Jones secured an automatic place in the Top Five by receiving the highest number of votes. Additionally, Melissa Toghanro was selected as Nigeria’s representative for the upcoming Miss Supranational pageant.

The event also recognized outstanding performances and projects from various contestants. Anita Osikhena stood out by winning the Pitch Your Dream Competition, which awarded her ₦1 million and a complimentary two-night stay at Yolo Island Beach Resort. She also received the Best Advocacy Project award, taking home ₦500,000 and a year’s supply of Golden Penny products.

Guy Murray-Bruce, the President of the Silverbird Group and National Director of Miss Universe Nigeria, crowned Adewusi at the conclusion of the event. As Miss Universe Nigeria 2026, she will represent the country at the 75th Miss Universe Festival scheduled for November 24 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Adewusi plans to bring her advocacy project, "Scrub the Stigma," which focuses on women’s health, to the international platform.
