As Vice President Kashim Shettima celebrated his 60th birthday on September 2, reflections on his impactful tenure as governor of Borno State emerged, particularly regarding his leadership during the Boko Haram insurgency. Former Minister of National Planning, Prof. Abubakar Sulaiman, shared insights into Shettima's journey and the significant challenges he faced while in office.

In a tribute issued in Abuja, Sulaiman noted that Shettima took over the governorship at a time when Borno was grappling with one of the most severe security crises in its history. The Boko Haram insurgency had wreaked havoc across communities, displacing thousands and disrupting both social and economic activities.
