A former physical education teacher in the United Kingdom is facing serious allegations of engaging in sexual activities with a 16-year-old pupil. Bronwen James, aged 30, is accused of maintaining an inappropriate relationship with the teenager, which reportedly began through messages exchanged on Snapchat.

The case is being heard at Winchester Crown Court, where the prosecution revealed that James saved the pupil's phone number as 'number 8', indicating he was the eighth individual she had engaged with sexually. Edward Culver, the prosecutor, presented evidence suggesting that the relationship was not only inappropriate but also sexually charged, as indicated by the messages exchanged between the two.

According to the prosecution, the relationship came to light when another student showed a teacher the messages exchanged between James and the boy. The court was informed that James had flirted with the teenager before accepting his friend request on Snapchat. Following this, she allegedly drove the boy to Weston Shore in Southampton, where they parked and shared a kiss inside her vehicle.

The allegations state that the pair subsequently went to James' home, where they engaged in sexual activities on multiple occasions. Culver described one encounter where they were watching tennis during Wimbledon before they began kissing and touching each other, ultimately leading to them removing their clothes and having sexual intercourse.

Prosecutors also claimed that James sent daily messages to the teenager expressing her affection, stating that she 'loved him' and wanted to move away with him. After the allegations surfaced, James was questioned by police and reportedly claimed that she had received messages from an unknown number, which was later identified as belonging to the teenager. She further suggested that another student might have been instigating the accusations against her.

Summarizing the case, Culver asserted that James exploited her position as a teacher to engage in sexual activities with her student, emphasizing the manipulative nature of their relationship. James, who hails from Chippenham, Wiltshire, has denied the four charges of sexual activity with the minor. The trial is ongoing, and the allegations remain unproven as the court continues to hear evidence.
