Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State delivered a pivotal address at the 2026 CEO Forum held in Lagos, emphasizing the importance of aligning business decisions with investment opportunities to foster economic growth. The event, organized by the Global Compact Network Nigeria, focused on the theme "Financing a Dignified Future: Aligning Business Action, Policy and Capital."

The CEO Forum serves as a high-profile platform for business leaders, government officials, and international development partners to engage in discussions aimed at unlocking productive investments. Governor Lawal highlighted the competitive landscape in which states vie for private capital, stressing the need to distinguish between economic opportunities and viable investment propositions.

In his address, Lawal outlined how his administration is actively working to bridge the gap between investor confidence and meaningful economic outcomes for the people of Zamfara State. He noted that the forum's focus on connecting capital to opportunity is crucial for identifying sectors and projects that struggle to access necessary funding.

The discussions at the forum also included strategies for strengthening the alignment between policy and business, which is essential for enhancing private sector investment. Governor Lawal pointed out the significance of mobilizing collaborative finance, where banks and development finance institutions can work together to support productive growth.

Additionally, the forum explored the concept of Advance Responsible Business Leadership, encouraging businesses to adopt practices that enhance investment readiness and strengthen local value chains. This approach aims to create sustainable economic value and improve job opportunities within communities.

Governor Lawal also discussed the idea of the Dignity Dividend, which refers to how investments can lead to better employment, increased productivity, and wider economic participation. He underscored the necessity of securing actionable commitments from various stakeholders to advance specific actions and partnerships over the next six to twelve months.

The event attracted notable figures, including CEOs from major financial institutions and corporations such as First Bank Group, Access Bank, and Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc, among others. The organizers announced that the forum would culminate in a live showcase of the Business Value and Sustainability Platform (BVSP), a coalition aimed at enhancing the private sector's role in discussions at the upcoming United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) High-Level Week.

This year's forum not only highlights the challenges faced by businesses in accessing capital but also aims to foster a collaborative environment where government, business, and capital providers can work together to drive Nigeria's economic growth.
