Nigerian comedian and social media influencer, Aderombi Adedayo Martins, widely known as DeeOne, has publicly criticized Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tunji Disu for allegedly protecting activist VeryDarkMan from arrest. DeeOne made these remarks in an Instagram video posted on Tuesday, expressing his frustration over what he perceives as unequal treatment in the enforcement of the law.

In his video, DeeOne highlighted the recent arrests of other public figures, including former Big Brother Naija contestant Tacha and influencer B-Lord, who were detained for failing to respond to police summons. He argued that the police's actions in those cases demonstrate that no citizen should be above the law. DeeOne stated, "What is good for a citizen is also good for all citizens," emphasizing the need for accountability.

DeeOne's comments come in response to VeryDarkMan's refusal to comply with police invitations for questioning regarding allegations he made against Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Jimoh Moshood. Despite being invited twice, VeryDarkMan has publicly declared his intention not to attend, raising concerns about the perceived inaction of the police in this matter.

The comedian accused IGP Disu of failing to fulfill his duties, claiming that the police have already received approval to arrest VeryDarkMan but have not acted on it. DeeOne asserted, "The person that is holding the arrest now is IGP Tunji Disu," questioning whether the IGP is serving the interests of the Nigerian people or protecting VeryDarkMan.

In a passionate outburst, DeeOne stated, "You cannot be in office forever. And the information reaching us is that they are going to change you very soon." He further warned IGP Disu that he would continue to speak out against what he sees as negligence in his role, stating, "If you want to arrest DeeOne, you can go ahead because DeeOne doesn’t stop and nobody can bring DeeOne down."

DeeOne's remarks have sparked discussions on social media about the fairness of law enforcement practices in Nigeria, especially regarding how different individuals are treated based on their status or influence. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the police will respond to these allegations and whether VeryDarkMan will ultimately face the legal consequences of his actions.

The controversy highlights ongoing concerns about the integrity of the Nigerian police force and the need for equitable treatment under the law, a sentiment echoed by many Nigerians who are calling for reforms in law enforcement practices.
