AC Milan targets Manchester United defender Leny Yoro for transfer
Ruben Amorim eyes Leny Yoro as a key addition to bolster AC Milan's defense.

Ruben Amorim, the newly appointed head coach of AC Milan, has earmarked Manchester United's defender Leny Yoro as a potential signing as the summer transfer window approaches its close. The 20-year-old player, who transferred to United from Lille for £52 million two years ago, has struggled to meet expectations since his arrival at Old Trafford.
Yoro's time at Manchester United has been marred by injuries and inconsistent playing time. He suffered a significant ankle injury during his first season, which severely impacted his development. Since then, he has managed to make 67 appearances across all competitions, contributing just one goal and three assists. Recently, he was an unused substitute during United's unexpected 2-0 defeat to Hull City and found himself on the bench again in the match against Ipswich, only coming on in the 73rd minute for Diogo Dalot.
With Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez establishing themselves as the primary centre-back pairing in Michael Carrick's preferred 4-2-3-1 formation, speculation about Yoro's future at Manchester United has intensified. His limited playing time has led to questions about whether he can secure a more prominent role at the club.
According to reports from Tuttosport, AC Milan is closely monitoring Yoro's situation and may make a move before the transfer window closes on Tuesday. The Serie A club is actively seeking to strengthen its defense, particularly after finalizing a deal with Nottingham Forest for England Under-21 forward Omari Hutchinson. This summer, Milan has already invested heavily, spending approximately €150 million (£128 million) on new signings, including Goncalo Ramos, Mario Gila, Sankhoun Diawara, and Diego Moreira.
Amorim reportedly met with Milan's directors, Hendrik Almstadt and Bobby Gardiner, for nearly five hours over the weekend to discuss potential transfer targets, where he was assured that further signings are being considered. The club is still in the market for an attacking midfielder, a central defender, and a left-back, with indications that super-agent Jorge Mendes could play a significant role in any negotiations.
As the transfer deadline looms, all eyes will be on whether AC Milan can secure Yoro's services and how this move could impact both his career and the defensive lineup at the San Siro.
