The sister of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member abducted in Kogi State has made a heartfelt plea to the Federal Government and security agencies for immediate action to secure the release of her sister and other victims. Chidinma, who is still mourning the recent loss of their mother, expressed her anguish and desperation in an emotional appeal shared on her Instagram Story.

Chidinma's sister was among several corps members kidnapped while traveling from Bayelsa State to Abuja. The incident occurred on Wednesday when armed assailants ambushed their vehicle along the Aloma–Egane Expressway in Ofu Local Government Area. In her appeal, Chidinma stated, "My sister was taken away on Wednesday and other corps members. They are not doing anything. They keep telling us that they are on it."

The family is struggling to meet the ransom demands set by the kidnappers, which Chidinma described as exorbitant. She emphasized that the abducted corps members are still in the forest, suffering, and urged the government to take decisive action, stating, "Those children are in the forest suffering, the kidnappers kept asking for what we cannot afford. Government should take this matter up because those children are still government property."

Chidinma also refuted claims circulating on social media that some of the abducted corps members had been rescued, asserting that her sister remains missing. "I heard some bloggers said they rescued some. They did not rescue anybody. My sister will not go like that," she lamented.

The police have confirmed the abduction, with the Kogi State Police Command reporting that a joint security operation led to the rescue of 11 victims, including the drivers of the buses involved. The police spokesperson, ASP Salisu Oyiza Afusat, detailed that the operation was launched after receiving a distress call about the attack. She noted that the armed hoodlums had blocked two buses, leading to the abduction of several passengers.

Despite the police's confirmation of the rescue of some victims, Chidinma remains hopeful and fearful for her sister's safety. She described the circumstances surrounding her sister's journey, explaining that she had recently completed a three-week orientation camp in Bayelsa and was on her way to Abuja before heading to her Place of Primary Assignment in Niger State.

In her emotional video posted earlier, Chidinma called on the Federal Government, the NYSC, and the United Nations to intervene. "I’m begging Nigerians, I’m begging the government, I’m begging the United Nations to do something. Nothing should happen to them. Nothing should happen to my sister," she said.

As the search for the remaining victims continues, the Kogi State Police Command has assured the public that all available resources are being deployed to secure the area and apprehend the perpetrators. The situation remains tense as families await news of their loved ones, hoping for a swift resolution to this tragic incident.
