Troops from Operation Fansan Yamma have achieved notable successes in their fight against terrorism in Kaduna and Katsina states, resulting in the arrest of three suspected collaborators and the destruction of several terrorist enclaves. These operations took place on August 27 and 28, 2026, as reported by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Military Information Officer.

In Kaduna State, the operation began with the apprehension of a suspect who was found carrying two locally fabricated guns and thirteen rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag. The suspect revealed during preliminary questioning that he had been instructed to deliver the weapons to another individual. This information led the troops to conduct a follow-up operation, which resulted in the arrest of two additional suspects linked to the weapons movement.

The three suspects, along with the recovered arms and other items, are currently undergoing further investigation as the military seeks to unravel the broader network of terrorist activities in the region.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation on August 28, troops of Sector 2, with support from other security agencies, launched a clearance operation targeting identified terrorist enclaves in the Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State. During this operation, the troops successfully destroyed several structures used by terrorists to facilitate their criminal activities.

Significantly, the operation targeted an enclave associated with notorious terrorist leader Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, who has been implicated in numerous attacks against civilians in Matazu and Musawa Local Government Areas. Reports indicate that Filani narrowly escaped capture as the troops advanced towards the enclave.

In addition to the destruction of the enclave, troops recovered an RPG-7 tube, a motorcycle, mobile phones, and various other items during the operation. Following these actions, the troops conducted further patrols in the area to consolidate their gains and prevent any resurgence of terrorist activities.

These operations highlight the ongoing commitment of Operation Fansan Yamma to dismantle terrorist networks and disrupt the logistics that support their operations. The Joint Task Force remains dedicated to employing coordinated and intelligence-driven strategies to degrade the capabilities of these groups and restore peace and security to the affected communities.
