Federal authorities have charged two individuals, Daejon Labrayae Love, 35, and Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud after they allegedly scammed 26 women out of approximately $1.3 million through a fraudulent investment scheme. The arrests took place at Boise Airport in Idaho on August 24, where the suspects were reportedly en route to meet potential new victims.

According to the indictment filed by federal prosecutors in Portland, Oregon, the fraudulent activities began in February 2022. Love is accused of targeting women across several states, including Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and California, by presenting himself as a wealthy investor and a player for the San Francisco 49ers. He reportedly met these women online, often through dating apps, and built romantic relationships with many of them.

To lend credibility to his claims, Love introduced Chan as his financial adviser, further convincing victims of the legitimacy of the investment opportunities he was promoting. Prosecutors allege that Love promised these women substantial returns on their investments, which he claimed would help build a future together.

The scheme involved advertising non-existent investment opportunities, with Love allegedly using fake bank accounts to create an illusion of legitimacy. Chan is accused of assisting Love by posing as his investment adviser and sending him fabricated messages about lucrative investment opportunities. Love would then forward these messages to victims to persuade them to invest large sums of money.

After receiving the funds, both Love and Chan are said to have vanished with the money, leaving the victims in financial distress. Federal authorities have indicated that the duo's fraudulent activities may have generated tens of millions of dollars in fictitious wealth.

Additionally, Love's social media presence reportedly featured numerous images of him in San Francisco 49ers attire and football gear, which he used to bolster his fabricated persona. While the federal charges are serious, it is important to note that both Love and Chan are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation continues as authorities seek to uncover more details about the extent of the scam and any additional victims that may have been affected.
