A bizarre incident unfolded at Two Tree Island, a popular nature reserve near Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, where a man was spotted engaging in an act of public indecency. Witnesses reported that Tim Meehan was seen walking without trousers and with a carrot inserted in his rectum, causing distress among those present.

The incident occurred on March 9 when a woman, who was walking her dogs, noticed Meehan on the other side of a small hill. According to prosecutor Sara Thompson, the woman felt frightened upon seeing him in such a state. As she continued her walk, she encountered Meehan again, this time with his back turned and holding an object in his hand, which he subsequently inserted into his rectum.

A second witness, who also observed the situation, instructed Meehan to pull up his trousers, while a third person was alerted by the first witness about the unusual sighting. The court heard that there were indications Meehan may have been intoxicated during the incident.

Meehan appeared in Basildon Magistrates' Court on August 27, concealing his face with a suit jacket. He confirmed his identity and admitted to the act of public indecency. District Judge King noted that Meehan had pleaded guilty immediately, which could result in a reduced sentence. A report from the Probation Service will be prepared before sentencing, which is scheduled for November.

Two Tree Island spans 259 hectares and is known for its diverse wildlife, serving as a winter sanctuary for various bird species. The incident has raised concerns about public safety and the appropriateness of behavior in such public spaces.
