The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) officially launched its campaign for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections on Wednesday, drawing thousands of enthusiastic supporters across Ogun Central Senatorial District.

The campaign kickoff began in Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency at Agbado Station, where residents lined the streets and balconies to greet the PDP governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu, alongside his running mate, Alhaja Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo, and the party's senatorial candidate, Prof. Iyabo Obasanjo. The atmosphere was electric, with supporters waving and cheering as the campaign train made its way through the constituency.

In Abeokuta North Federal Constituency, the reception was equally impressive. Supporters gathered at NTA Junction, Totoro, waiting from as early as 10 am to welcome the PDP team. Dele Olaleye, the party's candidate for the House of Representatives, joined the rally, where attendees chanted solidarity songs, expressing their commitment to the party's vision for the future.

The excitement continued in Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, where Toyin Amuzu, the House of Representatives candidate, also witnessed a large turnout. Thousands of supporters followed the convoy to Ake Pavilion, the venue for the official flag-off rally for Ogun Central.

During the rally, Adebutu urged the crowd to vote for proven leaders, emphasizing the importance of electing Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, whose previous tenure he claimed had set a high standard for representation. He called for a decisive shift away from what he described as a history of non-performance, encouraging residents to vote for a brighter future under the PDP.

Adebutu stated, "I want to remind you that the best times of Nigeria have largely emerged under the leadership of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), exemplified by what Baba Obasanjo did as a cornerstone for his successors. Happy days are coming again, very, very soon."

He further implored the electorate to resist intimidation and stand firm in their voting decisions, saying, "You must all turn out in your large numbers to vote for the PDP in the coming 2027 elections. Be ready to stand by your votes, resist intimidation and use the power of the ballot to say enough is enough to misgovernance and maladministration."

Obasanjo, reflecting on her past achievements as a representative and Commissioner for Health, expressed gratitude for the support she has received. She promised to work diligently to ensure that the people of Ogun benefit from the dividends of democracy, calling on residents to rally behind the PDP for a more comfortable and rewarding life.

As the campaign progresses, residents and supporters voiced their loyalty to the PDP candidates, assuring them of their votes in the upcoming elections, setting the stage for a competitive political landscape in Ogun State.
