Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State have been encouraged to convert their recent defeat in the governorship election into a stepping stone for success in the upcoming 2027 general elections. This call to action was made by Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a prominent party chieftain and former member of the Osun State House of Assembly, in a statement released in Osogbo.

In his remarks, Oyintiloye emphasized the need for party members to avoid blaming any single leader within the party for the electoral setback. He noted that election outcomes are influenced by a multitude of factors, including candidate appeal, grassroots mobilization, party unity, campaign strategies, and voter sentiments.

"This is not the time to crucify anybody. It is a time for sober reflection, reconciliation and strategic repositioning," Oyintiloye stated. He urged the APC members to conduct a thorough assessment of their performance rather than engaging in post-election blame games.

He further stressed that the party must begin preparations immediately to ensure they can secure maximum votes for President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections. "We do not have much time left to do that. We must find a way to turn the guber loss to victory for Tinubu and others in the next few months," he added.

Oyintiloye also called for a comprehensive post-election review to analyze the party’s performance from the polling unit level up to the state structures. He highlighted that constructive criticism is essential for the growth and survival of any political organization, but warned against criticisms rooted in anger or personal grievances.

As the 2027 general elections approach, Oyintiloye reminded party members that internal conflicts would only hinder their progress. "The real work of rebuilding must begin now," he said, urging leaders to reconnect with grassroots members and voters to address their concerns and restore confidence in the party.

The recent governorship election saw incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) re-elected, receiving 511,067 votes, while Bola Oyebamiji of the APC garnered 444,815 votes. This result has prompted calls for introspection and strategic planning within the APC to enhance their electoral prospects in the near future.
