Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala has publicly disclosed that he is dealing with a neurological disorder, which has led to temporary but treatable seizures. This announcement follows two incidents where the 23-year-old fainted on the pitch within a span of four days, raising concerns about his health and fitness.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Musiala explained his condition, highlighting the challenges he faces. Bayern Munich's head coach, Vincent Kompany, confirmed that the club had been aware of Musiala's health issues long before they became public knowledge. He emphasized that the fainting spells were linked to a recent adjustment in Musiala's treatment plan, which resulted in some side effects.

"He made a slight change to his treatment, which caused some side effects. It’s perfectly normal to make changes to a treatment plan. Now we want to get things back to how it was before," Kompany stated.

As a precaution, Musiala will not participate in the upcoming season-opening Supercup match against Borussia Dortmund. Alongside him, teammates Lennart Karl and Serge Gnabry will also be absent from the game, further impacting the squad's lineup.

Bayern's sporting director, Max Eberl, revealed that the club had been informed of Musiala's condition for over a year. He noted that it was ultimately Musiala's choice to share this information with the public. Kompany reassured fans and the media that the team had been prepared for the situation, stating, "I understand there are many questions. But the initial shock for us was a long time ago. Therefore, we’re not talking about it that much at the moment. We’ve been prepared for some time… We have procedures in place and we’re very optimistic."

The announcement has sparked discussions about player health and the importance of transparency regarding medical conditions in professional sports. As Bayern Munich gears up for the new season, the focus will not only be on their performance but also on supporting Musiala through his recovery process.
