Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on Christian leaders to rally their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the nation prepares for the 2027 general elections. This appeal was made during a prayer visit from the Executive Committee of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), led by Bishop Abos Willie, at the Government House in Asaba.

During the meeting, Oborevwori expressed gratitude for the prayers that he believes contributed to his election as governor in 2023. He emphasized the importance of divine intervention in political matters, stating that the upcoming elections should not be viewed merely through political lenses but rather as a reflection of God's will. "I am an APC man. I must work for my President and I must work for my candidates. I will continue to speak for them," he declared.

The governor urged the Christian community to extend the same support they have shown him to President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates. He highlighted the necessity of prayers for the President, particularly seeking wisdom and strength as he navigates ongoing reforms. Oborevwori noted that these reforms have begun to enhance the financial capabilities of state and local governments, allowing for the execution of essential development projects.

"Before now, to pay salaries was a problem. To construct roads was a problem. Councils could not even execute projects. But now, local governments can do projects because the reforms are working," he stated, reinforcing his commitment to infrastructure development across Delta State.

In addition to political support, Oborevwori called for responsible engagement from the Christian community in the political sphere, asserting that politics significantly influences societal conditions. He emphasized the need for churches to participate actively in the political process rather than distancing themselves from it.

The governor also appealed for ongoing prayers for peace and stability in Delta State, acknowledging the current security challenges and urging collaborative efforts to maintain a peaceful environment. He expressed appreciation to the PFN executives for their support and prayers, assuring them of his administration's dedication to good governance and the welfare of the citizens.

Bishop Abos Willie, the PFN Chairman, commended Oborevwori for his achievements in infrastructure and peacebuilding within the state. He affirmed the fellowship's commitment to intensifying prayers for the governor and the upcoming elections, revealing plans to establish prayer centres across Delta to ensure peaceful campaigns and a violence-free electoral process.

Willie also highlighted the PFN's efforts to strengthen its organizational structure, with over 4,150 ward officers set to be deployed statewide. Additionally, he mentioned the establishment of a College of Theology and the completion of a hatchery project aimed at fostering economic empowerment and development in the region.

The meeting concluded with prayers offered for the governor, his administration, and the nation, reinforcing a collective hope for divine guidance as the state approaches the critical electoral period.
