The cost of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), commonly referred to as cooking gas, is anticipated to decline throughout Nigeria after significant price adjustments by Dangote Refinery and various depot owners. A recent market analysis revealed that Dangote Refinery has lowered its LPG gantry price by N30, bringing it down to N950 per kilogram.

In response to this reduction, several depot owners and marketers have also adjusted their prices downward. Companies such as 11PLC, formerly known as Mobil, NAVGAS, Ranoil, and PPMC have reduced their ex-depot cooking gas prices to a range between N955 and N960 per kilogram. This price adjustment from the depot owners varies between N15 and N30 per kilogram.

At the retail level, filling stations operated by companies like Ranoil, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), and Shafa are currently selling cooking gas at prices ranging from N1,300 to N1,450 per kilogram. Meanwhile, other retailers in Abuja and its surrounding areas maintain a price of N1,500 per kilogram, which is consistent with the rates recorded in July 2026.

This price shift comes on the heels of a dramatic increase in cooking gas imports, which surged by 1,400 percent in June, as reported by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA). The surge in imports has likely contributed to the current adjustments in pricing across the market, reflecting a more competitive landscape for LPG in Nigeria.

As the market continues to evolve, consumers can expect to benefit from these price reductions, which may help alleviate some of the financial pressures associated with cooking gas usage in households across the country.
