Allied Peoples Movement dominates Bauchi local government elections, winning all seats
The Allied Peoples Movement has secured all chairmanship positions in Bauchi's recent local elections.

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has achieved a remarkable victory in the Bauchi State local government elections, winning all 20 chairmanship seats contested on Monday. The results were announced by the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC), confirming APM's dominance in the electoral process.
Jummai Abubakar, the Chairperson of BASIEC, declared the results after a thorough process of voting, counting, collation, and verification. She stated, "Following the conclusion of voting, counting, collation and verification, I, Jummai Abubakar, Chairperson of BASIEC, hereby declare that all 20 APM candidates emerged victorious as Chairmen of the respective Local Government Areas."
In addition to the chairmanship wins, APM candidates also triumphed in 319 of the 323 councillorship seats across the state. This overwhelming success highlights the party's significant influence in the region.
Among the notable chairmanship winners, Umar Mohammed secured the Bauchi Local Government Area with 125,170 votes, while Bappah Aliyu won Alkaleri with 107,482 votes. Other significant victories included Zakka Luka in Bogoro LGA with 25,282 votes, and Iliya Isah in Dambam LGA with 19,730 votes. The results reflect a strong backing for APM in various localities, with candidates like Ali Babayo in Gamawa, who garnered 54,423 votes, and Abubakar Ibrahim Dembo in Toro, who received 109,999 votes.
The elections were not without competition, as four councillorship seats were claimed by candidates from other political parties. The Social Democratic Party won Dandango Ward in Bauchi LGA, while the National Rescue Movement secured Darazo South Ward in Darazo LGA. Additionally, the Zenith Labour Party claimed Wandi Ward in Dass LGA, and the Young Progressive Party won Zirami Ward in Giade LGA.
Chairperson Abubakar praised the conduct of the elections, emphasizing that they were carried out independently and in compliance with legal standards. She also acknowledged the support of Governor Bala Mohammed, which she noted contributed positively to the electoral process. Abubakar congratulated the citizens of Bauchi State and the newly elected officials, marking the conclusion of a significant electoral event in the region.
