The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a 27-year-old man, Ali Haruna, in connection with the murder of a woman at No Vex Hotel in Girei Local Government Area. The incident, which took place on August 14, 2026, has raised concerns over safety in the area.

According to a statement from the police, the altercation that led to the woman's death was reported around 5 PM. Officers from the Girei Divisional Police Headquarters responded promptly to the scene, where they found the victim suffering from severe injuries and lying in a pool of blood. Despite immediate medical attention, she was pronounced dead by the attending physician shortly after arrival at a medical facility.

SP Suleiman Nguroje, the police spokesman, confirmed that the suspect was arrested shortly after the incident. Preliminary investigations suggest that Haruna allegedly confessed to the crime, claiming responsibility for the stabbing. The police have recovered the knife believed to have been used in the attack, which will be treated as evidence in the ongoing investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Kabir Hassan, has instructed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case. The police are committed to conducting a thorough and professional investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident and the motive behind it.

Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and to refrain from spreading unverified information regarding the case. They emphasized the importance of allowing law enforcement to complete their investigation without interference.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that Haruna had checked into the hotel, which is owned by a retired police officer, earlier that day. Reports suggest that he had been staying at the hotel since Friday afternoon and allegedly committed the murder just hours later. An eyewitness further claimed that Haruna confessed to having killed two other individuals earlier in the year.

The police have assured the public that anyone found guilty of involvement in the crime will face the full consequences of the law. The community has been advised against taking matters into their own hands, highlighting the need for a lawful and orderly response to the situation.
