Arsenal Football Club have confirmed the signing of Brazil International Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle United on a long-term deal ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The Premier League Champions confirmed the signing of Guimarães on their official website on Saturday, August 8, 2026, as they continue in their quest to defend their title.

Guimarães becomes a major addition to Mikel Arteta’s midfield, joining a squad that already includes Declan Rice and Martin Ødegaard. His versatility, leadership and technical quality are expected to add further depth and competition to Arsenal’s midfield.

The 29-year-old leaves Newcastle after making 195 appearances for the club and helping them win the Carabao Cup. He is also coming to the Emirates with a wealth of experience, having captained the Magpies during his time at St James’ Park.

Bruno joined Newcastle United in January 2022 and went on to make nearly 200 appearances during four-and-a-half seasons at St James’ Park. A commanding presence in midfield, he played a pivotal role in Newcastle’s Carabao Cup triumph in 2025 and helped the club secure qualification for the UEFA Champions League across two seasons.

Guimarães admitted that leaving Newcastle was one of the toughest decisions of his career. Still, they said he was ready for a new challenge and determined to win major trophies with Arsenal.
